Hello! I am a graduate of the University of Southern California, where I was a merit-based scholarship student. I am also a National Merit Scholar with over one year of experience privately tutoring SAT preparation. In addition, I have taught classes of over 30 children full-time at two academies in one of the most competitive academic districts in Seoul, South Korea. There, I taught a book club, English reading, vocabulary, and writing. The age of my students ranged from elementary to high school.
My teaching approach is both flexible and organized. Because each student is unique, I devise tailored plans. Before beginning lessons, I like to have an initial consultation to understand my student’s goals and academic progress. Then, if the student feels it would be beneficial, I provide a syllabus outlining future lessons. I also tend to incorporate books/learning materials that will help my students reach their goals.
Additionally, I have significant experience teaching on a volunteer basis. I've taught diverse individuals English in South Korea, including children from low-income backgrounds and adults with disabilities. I care deeply about who my students are, as well as their long-term goals. If they don't have any yet, I understand that as well and work on helping to build their confidence to help them forge their own paths. All in all, I am teacher who is able to work with a diverse range of students, always keeping their humanity and their academic success in mind simultaneously.
