Hi, my name is Ben! I'm a lifelong educator with a passion for history and social studies. I come from a family of teachers and educators, and have been volunteering in a classroom setting and in extra-curricular educational programs from a young age. I discovered early in school my passion was in the study of History, and the humanities generally. After graduating high school, I studied History (with a focus in Latin American studies, and a sub-focus in the Middle East) at UC Davis, before moving on to receive a teaching credential and Master's in Education from UCD as well.
Following college, I spent 3 years working as a coordinator in community based youth programs for middle schoolers, where I learned about the importance of an individualized approach to education outside of the classroom setting.
After that, I began working as a teacher at Visions in Education Charter School, where I taught Geography, Economics, and Sociology to 9-12th grade students for three years. Working at Visions, in a hybrid online/in-person system, taught me to adapt to a diverse distance learning system and made me comfortable to education in the virtual space, something I bring to my tutoring sessions.
Currently, in addition to tutoring, I work as a administrator in the California Regional Training Institute non-profit, training and supporting other fledgling educators in their college years. I am passionate about education in all its forms, and enjoy taking time with each student to see them grow; the greatest gift for any teacher. I look forward to working with you!
