I'm Kismet! I'm currently enrolled in UC Berkeley as an undergraduate and am triple majoring in Neuroscience, Molecular Therapeutics, and English. I have been a tutor for over four years in subjects such as Algebra 1/2, Biology, and essay writing. In both high school and college, the best instructors are ones who went out of their way by answering every question, repeatedly reviewing material, and using different teaching styles to increase the effectiveness of their teachings. I strive to positively impact another in the same way that these instructors have impacted me. When I tutor, I always prioritize the student’s needs—my role is to guide them through their subject and to adapt to whichever learning style they perform, whether it be written, visual, or verbal.
Additionally, I try to do all that I can to make tutoring an engaging experience by ensuring that students have a sense of independence so they can successfully take the skills gained in the tutoring session and apply them to their studies outside of the session. I have tutored in prealgebra and Algebra 1/2 for two years by working directly with high school students, and I have tutored the first year of college calculus for a year. In my lessons, I emphasize conceptually understanding the subject so that the students are ready for any question that might pop up on an exam or quiz, but I always adapt the lesson structure to what suits the student best. This conceptual understanding is especially important in Biology, which I have tutored to middle school and high school students. Further, I have assisted in essay writing for over two years, with my approach being to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a student’s writing through providing constructive feedback.
Ultimately, I want to leave a positive impact on the students that I work with, and I want to make learning a rewarding experience. I am easy to reach and I respond back as quickly as I can. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
