Hello!
I am a writing instructor, author, and homeschool consultant with over a decade of experience teaching writing, grammar, and humanities to middle and high school students. My background is both personal and professional: I am a second-generation homeschooler, and I now work with students across homeschool, private, and traditional school settings.
I earned degrees in General Studies and Legal Studies, after which I spent over 10 years working in the legal field, where I developed strong research and writing skills that translate directly into teaching strategic, persuasive, and analytical writing. I am currently a writing instructor with Brave Writer and the lead author for The Insightful Scholar, where I author history books specifically for homeschooled students.
In my tutoring, I work primarily one-on-one, which allows me to tailor each session to the individual student. I have experience supporting a wide range of learners, including students with learning differences and neurodivergence, students for whom English is a second language, and gifted or advanced students. I especially enjoy working with students who feel stuck or resistant to writing. My approach focuses on breaking writing into clear, manageable steps while helping students build confidence and momentum.
In addition to teaching, I am a professional writer and editor, with work published in outlets such as Homeschool+, The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, and Sacramento Parent Magazine. This allows me to teach writing as it functions in the real world, not just in academic settings. I help students develop their own writing process, strengthen their analytical thinking, and express their ideas clearly in a way that feels authentic to them.
I look forward to getting to know each student, their interests, and what they want to tell the world.
