Hi! I have a PhD in mathematics from UC Riverside, where I worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant for 6 years. I'm passionate about mathematics and computer science, and I love teaching in the hopes that you will find yourself enjoying the subject as much as I do. My goal is to take a socratic method toward problem-solving, guiding students toward the right answer through questions so as to impart a deeper understanding of the subject.

Thru Wyzant, I have tutored and guided research projects for upper-division undergraduates, fellow graduate students, and independent researchers on a variety of subjects in mathematics too long to enumerate. Outside of Wyzant, I have six years of experience at my university teaching classes on college algebra, precalculus, first-year calculus, calculus-based probability and statistics, numerical analysis, polynomials and number systems, and differential geometry. Lastly, I take phone calls from my fiancee's family and my cousin asking for help on their math homework, and from my mother asking me about math for her art projects.
At the graduate level, I have completed year-long sequences in abstract algebra, applied math, topology, and real analysis, as well as courses in homological algebra, harmonic analysis, and algebraic geometry. My PhD research uses tools from category theory to build a framework for composing open systems in classical mechanical physics. In addition to continuing this project, I apply a compositional framework to formalize concepts and derive principled algorithms in reinforcement learning.
