You can have many degrees and tons of knowledge, but if you can't teach, it doesn't much matter to students and parents looking for help. I have a B.A, two Master's, and a J.D., and have decades of experience in law, business, and teaching, but teaching always comes first. I am now a retired teacher with four credentials--elementary, secondary, RSP, and special education ("learning handicapped"). Many of my students--even those in college and especially in law--have ADD/ADHD, anxiety disorders, etc., and because I am a teacher first, I can help individualize and personalize my tutoring to those specific needs.

Although many parents are hesitant to try online tutoring, especially for ADD/ADHD and ASD, their kids have no problem with it. Computers and online learning are even used in today's classrooms, so young ones are quite adept at using that method if not naturally brain-wired to do it. It's the way of the new world in business and colleges, so we might as well all get used to it.

Criminal Justice,

Criminal Justice

Criminal Law and Evidence were my best subjects in law school, and I interned at the Public Defender's Office the year after my graduation. Although I was primarily a civil litigator, I did handle misdemeanor and DUI cases as well. I can help you improve your grades in this subject as I taught Intro to Law at the college level before I retired.
Law

Law

As a retired civil litigation attorney and Intro to Law and Criminal Justice law prof, I can help you be successful in law school and prep for the bar exam. Many 1L’s are lost the first year because it’s a whole new world no matter how successful you have been academically in the past. I can help you navigate those stormy waters and calm the seas. As an experienced teacher, I can help you understand and memorize for tests, too.

I freelance as an editor and proofreader in my retirement after being a high school and college English teacher. I can make grammar learning fun no matter your level--elementary, high school, college, or aspiring published author.

Special Needs

ADHD

I have a California teaching credential in elementary, secondary (English), and special education (learning handicapped.) I have taught in public schools for over ten years. I have ADHD, my daughter has ADHD, and I have taught many ADHD students to harness their super power and succeed! Online/computer learning is actually the best way for us to learn as it focuses attention with less distractions.

I am licensed as a California teacher to teach autistic students. I have over ten years of experience teaching autistic students of all ages. My expertise is reading and writing.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I am a retired credentialed special education teacher for all grade levels and even for college and grad school students. My expertise is in reading and writing but particularly for dyslexic, ASD and ADD/ADHD learners. I have learning “disabilities” myself, and that is why I was drawn to teaching years ago. Although trained in Lindamood and OG, I do not rely on just one method nor adhere to the deficit model of teaching where the goal is to have the student be like other students. My personalized individualized instruction actually helps my students succeed their own way. Learning how to learn is half the battle. So I would like to encourage you and your student to join me for online tutoring like many others with “special needs” have done, and if the first lesson is not successful, I won’t bill you. If you’re hesitant about online learning, please know that young people are pre-wired for using computers and the Internet. I’m sure yours will enjoy that platform for learning as well. It’s safe, and the way of the world today anyway, so a good skill to have for the future. So, I thank you for giving this option serious consideration, and I hope you agree to at least try it once. Remember the “Good Fit Guarantee” means you don’t pay if you’re not happy, but I’m sure you will be.

Bar Exam

As a retired civil litigation attorney and college Intro to Law and Criminal Justice law prof, I can help you prep for your individual state bar exam. I can teach you strategies for MBE’s and MEE’s, refresh and review with you the black letter law that you may have forgotten, keep you on a schedule, and help you write IRAC essays for the bar--often a far different method than what you learned in law school. I also have a specialty for coaching repeat bar takers after we diagnose “what went wrong?” We work as a team for you to succeed according to your personal learning style and very busy schedule. This personalized attention is the answer to group study problems. Try it and see.

One of the best out there

Ms. Connie has helped my son so much and I’m forever grateful for her expertise. She is so patient and encourages my son to step out of his comfort zone which boosts his self-esteem and confidence. Don’t know what we would do without her.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Very patient. We just started how to write an assay. My son learned how to write introduction and body, and will learn how to write the conclusion. Looking forward to the first assay.

Love getting feedback from Connie after her lessons with my son. Really helps us all know how his skills are progressing and what areas need additional attention.

English/Writing tutor

Connie is a wonderful tutor. In a nutshell, her teaching is straightforward, practical and tangible. She teaches with a clear purpose. She is extremely effective and efficient. She gives honest critiques and effectively shows you why something is incorrect. At the same time, she doesn’t give you all the answers and makes you work hard at figuring out how you should change your work. I consider her a very kind tutor. I know plenty of “nice” teachers who are unhelpful to students because they don’t have anything constructive to offer. I need my child to learn and improve as much as possible and my daughter needs a tutor who is super smart, and knows exactly what my child needs. Don’t expect someone who’s gonna tell you what you want to hear and not expect you to work. Connie always comes to tutoring with a clear plan in mind. She doesn’t waste time, she moves through topics quickly (not rushing) but methodically. She knows exactly what areas to focus on and when to move on to new ones. She is not a time waster. That way, you are learning as much as possible. This review is based on my daughter’s perspective. Connie has so far shown my very smart daughter (who is Math/Science-leaning & weak in language due to her lack of reading) that she is actually also capable of becoming skilled in grammar & writing too. It has only been 3-4 lessons as of this review. I’m very impressed with Connie.

Excellent land law tutor

I am a surveying student doing land law (in a different jurisdiction than the US) - I find it hard because I am not by degree a law student. But Connie was able to help me break down the legal gobbledygook into simpler words. Thanks Connie!

Very patient and understood my child right away!

She really got my child after only one lesson. I know he is in good hands and I look forward to his growth and learning. She is very flexible and my child really enjoyed her lesson and teaching style.

Patient and engaging!!

My son (14 years old) had his first lesson today and loves Connie! She instantly connected with him. She took time to get to know him and ask him questions. I was impressed with the way she tried to understand WHY he answered the way he did. I can’t wait to see what the future holds after some more lessons together.

Knowledgeable

Need someone who gets grammar for my twins. She gets it and is simplifying it for them. Thanks Ms Connie. Looking forward to an improved semester. Hopefully confusion and errors will be minimized.
