Bio

You can have many degrees and tons of knowledge, but if you can't teach, it doesn't much matter to students and parents looking for help. I have a B.A, two Master's, and a J.D. and have decades of experience in law, business, and teaching, but teaching always comes first. I am now a retired teacher with four credentials--elementary, secondary, RSP, and special education ("learning handicapped"). Many of my students--even those in college and especially in law--have ADD/ADHD, anxiety disorders, and ASD, and because I am a teacher first, I can help individualize and personalize my tutoring to those specific needs. I have ADHD myself and a college grad ADHD daughter, so I can relate very well. More importantly, I respect neurodiversity.
With a BA in English Lit & Comp and a Master's in Writing, my expertise these days teaching writing, especially essay writing--personal, informational, persuasive, and literature analysis. I can teach anyone to become a better academic writer and oftentimes to even enjoy it. Grammar and punctuation are taught holistically with my writing homework assignments.
Many ask me about Lindamood-Bell training, but my education and experience include that method but my skills are much more broad. In California, the teaching credential is a five year program, and a SPED one is an extra sixth year of in-depth study and student teaching--not just a certificate earned.

As for online tutoring, many parents are hesitant to try it, especially for ADD/ADHD and ASD, but their kids have no problem with it. Computers and online learning are used in today's classrooms, so young ones are quite adept at using that method and most are naturally brain-wired to do it. It's the way of the new world in business and colleges, so we might as well all get used to it.

ADHD

ADHD

I have a California teaching credential in elementary, secondary (English), and special education (learning handicapped.) I have taught in public schools for over ten years. I have ADHD, my daughter has ADHD, and I have taught many ADHD students to harness their super power and succeed! Online/computer learning is actually the best way for us to learn as it focuses attention with less distractions.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am licensed as a California teacher to teach autistic students. I have over ten years of experience teaching autistic students of all ages. My expertise is reading and writing.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a California teaching credential in elementary, secondary (English), and special education (learning handicapped.) I have taught all ages of students for ten years in the public school system.
English

English

With my B.A. in English Literature and Composition as well as with my past earned credentials for middle school and high school Language Arts and English, and my experience as a college English Comp teacher, I can help you with anything “English” no matter the grade level; even post-grad work. Research, essays, grammar, punctuation, formatting, editing—you name it--I can help you do it.
Reading

Reading

Credentialed K-12 and retired college teacher of English with a reading comprehension emphasis. I teach a reading process that helps with better understanding and improved grades no matter your grade level.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I am a retired credentialed special education teacher for all grade levels and even for college and grad school students. My expertise is in reading and writing but particularly for dyslexic, ASD and ADD/ADHD learners. I have learning “disabilities” myself, and that is why I was drawn to teaching years ago. Although trained in Lindamood and OG, I do not rely on just one method nor adhere to the deficit model of teaching where the goal is to have the student be like other students. My personalized individualized instruction actually helps my students succeed their own way. Learning how to learn is half the battle. So I would like to encourage you and your student to join me for online tutoring like many others with “special needs” have done, and if the first lesson is not successful, I won’t bill you. If you’re hesitant about online learning, please know that young people are pre-wired for using computers and the Internet. I’m sure yours will enjoy that platform for learning as well. It’s safe, and the way of the world today anyway, so a good skill to have for the future. So, I thank you for giving this option serious consideration, and I hope you agree to at least try it once. Remember the “Good Fit Guarantee” means you don’t pay if you’re not happy, but I’m sure you will be.
Writing

Writing

I am a retired credentialed middle school, high school, and college English Literature and Comp teacher who is well versed in teaching academic writing with my Master’s in that subject. I am also currently teaching remotely for Writing Lab support for several colleges. But whatever your needs are, whether it’s research papers in APA, essays, discussion boards, or literature analysis, I can help you with your academic writing no matter the grade level or content area. As an expert in syntax, grammar, and punctuation, I can help you edit and revise as well. Most importantly, let me teach you the writing process so that you can be an independent and expert writer throughout your academic career and beyond. Thank you for considering me for your English Comp coach. I look forward to meeting you.

Great teacher, best communicator for parents

Only subject that my daughter has struggled was writing. Today, her school teacher complemented her writing assignment( narrative). Without a doubt, this is all due to Ms. Connie’s. As a parent, I appreciate her detailed feedback after each lesson. She is simply wonderful!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

My daughter has autism and ADHD. She has trouble organizing her thoughts to formulate good writing. Connie took the time to understand her strengths and weaknesse. Connie worked with my daughter to help her understand the key elements of good writing and worked with her to improve her logic and grammar.

Excellent teacher so far, so good!!!

I love it! You're doing great and providing good tips about our daughter's writing. The first thing that came out of her mouth after your lesson was, "I enjoy taking lessons from her. She is funny; that's why the lesson was fun." Thank you.
