Computer Science Tutor for Adults & Children (10+)

I hold a master's degree in Computer Science and have nine years of industry experience as a software engineer. I am currently pursuing a second master's degree, this time in Artificial Intelligence, at California Baptist University in Riverside, after transferring from ASU (I simply love to learn). Professionally I work as a full stack developer, and I teach from that same working knowledge: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Vercel, Firebase, Supabase, Python and Django on the web side; Dart and Flutter for mobile; and Godot for game development.

I have been teaching part-time for 8 years, working with middle and high school students, undergraduates, and career switchers in their thirties and forties. My approach is to break complex concepts into simple blocks that are relatable to your experience.
I keep sessions to one or two hours and structure them in four parts:
theory, where I introduce or re-iterate a concept;
guided practice, where we work through it together;
a short task you attempt on your own;
and a take-home task, though I adjust that last part to your schedule, since in my experience, adults tend to be too busy for homework.
Before any of this begins, we have an unpaid conversation about your experience level, age, availability and goals, because I plan the course around the student rather than the other way around.
If you want a deep understanding of a topic, I am the person to come to; if you need a quick answer, a search engine or ai prompt is all you would need.

Both my parents were Math tutors, so to my family teaching is a sacred calling rather than side income. I intend to earn a PhD and become a lecturer, and eventually a professor, and this is me laying the groundwork. I am Tanzanian with a Russian name, so if cultural exchange (or some Swahili lessons) interests you alongside the computer science, I am very open to that. All I ask is dedication and a willingness to learn.
