I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature/Writing from UC San Diego, which has given me a strong foundation in essay writing, reading analysis, creative writing, and critical thinking. Furthermore, I hold two Associate Degrees from Riverside City College in Communications and Philosophy, respectively. This unique academic combination has enabled me to become an effective essay and story writer, as well as to recognize each person’s voice and thought process. When blended together, I can effectively assist students in a way that is specifically tailored to their individual learning processes, guiding them towards not just a completed essay, but also building their writing foundation for their future endeavors.

While at UC San Diego, I was an assistant at the JEDI Leadership Initiative. The mission of this initiative was to build a leadership program for students to develop individually and professionally. My role as an assistant involved researching leadership theory and program development, crafting accessible lessons, and figuring out the best way to connect with students. I created a growth plan utilizing the “Social Change Model of Leadership” to develop students’ leadership in the self, community, and society. My lesson plans focused on developing students’ communication and problem-solving skills, as well as providing DEI-styled education. By observing how each student confronted their assigned challenges, I was able to get a good estimate of how to help each student according to their strengths and areas of improvement.

The main demographic of my students was Freshman college students. New to the world beyond high school, these students possessed enormous energy and curiosity. As a senior college student, my job was to guide them and provide pointers as they tackled the world of college. I taught at this program for one year. The setting of my teaching experience was in a classroom setting consisting of 10-20 students.
