My approach to teaching consists of four elements: 1. navigating students to enlarge the public's ideas about the potentialities of collaborating with audiences and communities; 2. inviting students to find ways to use their surroundings as a medium as a means of approaching community art-making, working from the inside of the classroom out; 3. and developing art objects, interactive atlases, and installations that invite viewers to contribute to the creation of, and production of meaning from, works of art; 4. thus, I aspire to create equitable, diverse community-centered classrooms that favor active participation as an artistic strategy, to create and producing meaning from works of art. This active participation firstly comes from developing impactful active mentorship. These elements support my ambition as an educator, providing space for students to trace connections between history, art, and the everyday.
