I however began studying music at 9-years of age and continued throughout high school while being afforded private music tutoring through it all.
The Young Musicians program at U.C. Berkeley was an amazing place to learn, flourish, and experience what real support in the arts can produce in the areas of providing inspiration for young students of music.

The honor of being accepted into the YM program was a joyous, and richly beneficial opportunity of which I will never forget, and will always be enormously grateful for.
We studied music at the college level, and in addition to our primary instruments were made to study college level music theory, composition, arrangement, and take mandatory piano lessons as well as participate in choir singing.
The Young Musician's program exposed us to learning, and performing music from many genres of which provided an expanded view, and understanding of the wealth that exists in artistic and social diversity.
I have taught private lessons for 20-years now, and have also worked as Professional Expert / Guest Artist at Tamalpais High school for 17-years.

My instructional process has been very beneficial to my students who range in ages from
3rd grade - senior citizenry.
I've also had extensive industry experience through appearing on several platinum recordings, world tours, feature film appearances, and soundtrack work with the likes of Janet Jackson's 1993 World Tour through the R&B, Multiplatinum Group, Tony Toni Tone, Beyonce’s “Destiny’s Child”, Boz Scaggs, Larry Graham, etc.
Late night/daytime television show appearances, and feature film soundtrack work include, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live, MTV, Francis Ford Coppola’s “Peggy Sue Got Married” staring Nicholas Cage, Sylvester Stallone’s “Copland”, “Nina Takes A Lover” staring Laura San Giacomo, etc.

Saxophone

Saxophone

I have 20 years of private saxophone instruction experience coupled with 17 years of classroom teaching experience. I not only teach, but also have very extensive experience in live, and professionally recorded music performance. This experience enables me to equip, and prepare students to use their musical knowledge out in the world, and in real time. I always provide starkly detailed explanations of the difference between what it takes to be a professional saxophonist verses being a hobbyist, both of which can be extremely rewarding.
Songwriting

Songwriting

I have appeared on platinum recordings of 3 different artists. I am myself a songwriter, arranger, as well as a recording artist. Teaching creative proficiency in song structure development, and thematic awareness when creating songs is a very important study topic that will be covered in my classes.
Music Theory
