I’m Kim! I have a PhD in clinical psychology and have worked as a professor for more than 10 years. I have also tutored students in many subjects, worked with students who have ADHD on time management, organization and study skills, and have coached graduate students and early career professionals on the internship/job search process and career development issues. I love all aspects of working with teen and adult learners! I also draw upon my expensive background in psychology to tailor my approach to a student’s unique needs, learning style, and goals. In my experience, people learn best when they feel respected, heard, and secure enough to be vulnerable and take risks. I enjoy forming a collaborative partnership with students and working together to help you achieve your goals.
I am interested in tutoring high school, college, and graduate students in psychology, including AP psychology, research methods and statistics, psychopathology, theories of psychotherapy, human development, and other topics. I have a strong background conducting empirical research and can tutor on using SPSS, including technical aspects of the program as well as translating research questions or hypotheses into types of analyses that can be tested using the program.
I am a strong writer and have published in my field and also write creative non-fiction. I absolutely love supporting students and job seekers to improve their writing, whether it is academic writing for publication in scientific fields, essay writing for college classes, personal statements for school, internship or job applications, or other types of writing that are required to meet their goals. I provide very detailed edits, feedback and suggestions with a goal of not just improving one piece of writing but also learning new skills and gaining confidence for future writing.
