Hello! I'm Daniel, and welcome to my class!
I've been tutoring for the better part of 5 years now, and I love being able to watch my students grow and do things that they believed they could not do when they started the lesson! My teaching style isn't focused on remembering formulas and theorems to pass a test. Instead, I want to help you realize your learning process, and other ways you can apply your skills in real life.
I am a UCLA graduate (Completed in 3 years) in Political Science, with a concentration on International Relations. Currently, I am enrolled in USC's graduate program (1 year 4 months) for Applied Psychology with an emphasis on Consumer/Industrial Psychology. I've been a tutor for much longer, starting with music lessons in high school. (5 Years)
I've always had a diverse set of interests growing up. I've been playing the piano for 17 years, but I have a picked up and mastered twelve other instruments in that time as well (see music qualifications). I have also extensively studied writing, and have worked independently with my professors to publish my work at UCLA (message me for examples). And finally, ever since I have gotten my bachelor's degree, I have been working in special education in the classroom. This is something that I have been doing for approximately a year now, and I love the job.
I've been a musician for 17 years, mastering both classical and contemporary styles. My main instruments are the Piano, Tuba, Bass guitar, and Trombone. Although these are my main instruments, I also know how to play guitar, the drums, trumpet, euphonium/baritone, and more specific folk/ethnic instruments. I understand advanced breathing technique for wind players, and have an understanding of common practice period music theory.
I've worked in over 5 different LAUSD Special Education/resource classrooms, and have had training as a BII. I am CPI certified and know a range of learning principles/techniques such as: DTI, Prompting Hierarchies, Premack, Environmental arrangement.
