Hello! My name is Melissa, and I am a Ph.D.-trained Bioengineer with more than 6 years of experience teaching, mentoring, and supporting students across a wide range of STEM subjects.
I earned my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami, where I taught undergraduate students through both classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory courses. My teaching experience includes cell and tissue engineering, cell biology, biomaterials, neuroscience, experimental design, data analysis, and research methods. Throughout my doctoral training, I also mentored high school, undergraduate, and graduate students on independent research projects, helping them develop critical thinking, scientific communication, and problem-solving skills.
Prior to completing my doctorate, I earned a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University, where I served as a teaching assistant for materials science courses and led STEM outreach activities for middle and high school students. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida.
I work with students ranging from middle school through college and understand that every student learns differently. My goal is not only to help students improve grades and test performance, but also to build confidence, strengthen study habits, and develop a deeper understanding of challenging concepts. In every mentoring scenario, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student's goals.
I tutor a variety of subjects, including:
Biology, Neuroscience, Anatomy & Physiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Precalculus and Algebras, Statistics, Scientific Writing, College and Graduate School Application Support, Research Mentorship
