About Quentin

Bio

I have an AA degree (3.83 GPA) from Shasta College in Redding, CA. I love to learn and enjoy teaching! I am proficient in many subjects, but currently I only tutor Chess. I am logical, encouraging, and patient. I also have 15 years of experience working as a youth counselor. I have a partner as well who is very competent in chess and great with kids. We will teach your children the fundamentals of the game while making it fun and interesting.

  • Hourly Rate: $35
  • Rate details: WYZANT provides the clients and has a great website, so I will not work under the table. I will not lower my rate. For a 2-hr session though I will only charge $50.
  • Travel policy: Within 20 miles of Redding, CA 96003
  • Lesson cancellation: 24 hours notice required

Chess

Chess

Chess has been around for centuries and will continue to be a game for developing intelligent minds. There is no end to the complexity and variations of chess. My partner and I have studied the game extensively over the years and have a fair amount of USCF official tournament experience between us. We would like to introduce your child to a world of intrigue and fascination. This may be one way to divert him/her from video games, among other things. In doing so it may also help to encourage social skills, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. We welcome adult players as well.

Great Tutor

Quentin is a wonderful tutor. He is a great math tutor and a very kind person. Quentin enjoys his work and uses a variety of teaching techniques. Quentin could easily teach College subjects. He is respectful of his student and has often spent more than the allotted time.
