I am a Spanish and French professor with 16 years experience instructing Spanish, French, Italian, English, and ESL. My background also includes AP Spanish and French test preparation.

I earned my BA in Spanish and French from the University of California. I studied Spanish in Santiago, Chile, at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile - Chile's premier university - where I researched Spanish literature and linguistics.

In addition to my degrees, I have completed advanced courses in French conversation, French linguistics, and have stayed a significant time in France and Francophone Africa.

I am a heritage speaker of Italian with dual US/Italian citizenship. I have certificates of proficiency in Italian and lived part of my life in Rome with my Italian family.

My studies required a mastery of grammar, vocabulary, reading, and language use comprehension. I have helped many students gain thorough and complete proficiency with my experience. My goal is to help my students gain skills and to feel empowered and confident, not overwhelmed.

I look forward to working with you!

Study Skills

Study Skills

In my years of teaching and tutoring, I have assisted many students gain productive study skills. My main focus is to help my students do four important things. First, there needs to be a task analysis to understand what it is we are trying to accomplish (for example, prepare for a test, quiz or homework completion). Then there must be an assessment of time management and a plan for when and how long an assignment will take. The third step is goal setting for each week to stay on track. Lastly, there must be a strong focus on organizing notes and productive note taking. These four steps have assisted many of my students obtain higher grades and lowered their anxiety and stress in their studies.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

Definition, spelling, proper pronunciation and correct usage are all important aspects of vocabulary. Vocabulary skills are an important part of communication and working with me you can expect an increase in your word knowledge, confidence in daily usage and ability to recall words. All of my studies in Language included word usage, origin, meaning and how the human brain learns a language.
Writing

Writing

Since I was a child, I used writing as a way to express myself. I was placed in advanced level writing classes for a long as I can remember, competed in writing competitions and was published in Poetry. After I began tutoring, I noticed how many students needed help with transferring their thoughts to paper. I find that the main reasons people struggle with writing are absence of organized thought, lack of confidence in ideas and fear. I can help you to overcome all of these challenges and create writings you can be proud of.
