Chemist Offering Algebra, Calculus, and Chemistry Tutoring

Hi! I'm Ian L. For the past eight years, I’ve sharpened my skills as a chemistry, algebra, and calculus tutor, with experience ranging from serving as a math and science tutor to K-12 students as part of the School on Wheels organization during high school to working as an undergraduate apprentice instructor for the College of Chemistry Teacher-Scholars Program at the University of California, Berkeley. My approach focuses on using each student’s unique learning style to build engagement, building good habits that support academic and personal growth, and breaking bad habits that stunt them. By using real-world analogies, discussing the real-world applications of my subjects to build engagement, and building a solid foundation of knowledge, I aim to enhance information retention and academic interest, striving to create “eureka” moments for each student and fostering environments in which people want to learn instead of being forced to learn.

Last year, I graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. My achievements include a President’s Volunteer Service Award, serving as a student researcher for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and serving as a lab mentor at the Undergraduate Lab @ Berkeley program.

I offer tutoring for chemistry, calculus, and algebra. On my AP Chemistry and AP Calculus AB tests, I achieved the highest scores on both subjects.
