I have been an elementary school teacher for 21 years. During this time I’ve taught students from kinder to 5th grade in the regular classroom. During the last 4 years, I’ve worked with student in grades k-6th as an intervention teacher at my school. This position came after COVID hit. So many students fell behind, so my school district started the intervention teacher position (aka. Academic success teacher). In this position, I worked with the students most at need for 30-40 minutes daily for grades k-6th. Three days a week we worked on reading and 2 days a week on math.
During this time, I went back to school to obtain an RLAA (Reading and Literacy Added Authorization) authorization through USC. This authorization took 1 year to get. There was much work involved in getting this, but my motor to continue was my passion for teaching and being the best teacher possible.
Thank you for reading this and I hope to be working with you soon.
