Experience & Background:
I discovered my passion for teaching during my junior year of high school when my Pre-Calculus teacher recommended me as a peer tutor. Seeing my students succeed motivated me to continue tutoring through college with the San Bernardino County Library System. After earning my Master’s degree, I expanded my expertise to include financial accounting in July 2017. I have extensive experience delivering impactful instruction through both in-person sessions and top online platforms.
Teaching Philosophy & Method:
No two students learn the same way. I customize my approach based on an initial assessment of each student's history with the subject:
-For Struggling Students: We pause to revisit foundational concepts. I ensure past gaps are filled before introducing advanced material.
-For Advanced Students: If a student just needs help with a single new concept, we focus on the underlying logic, methodology, and practical rationale.
-Skill Retention: I assign targeted reinforcement exercises after lessons to cement understanding through practice.

I have tutored social studies for 1 year. I passed the Advance Placement U.S. History exam with a 4 and passed the Advance Placement U.S. Government exam with a 4. I typically conduct my lessons from a place of patient exploration by ascertaining what students understand and what they need help with. I then try to connect what they understand to areas of challenges so that lessons can be brought to educationally sound conclusions. With Social Studies, I try to help students understand the basis for the occurrence of historical events so that students can realize how those events have shaped current affairs. I also use audio-visual aids in helping students understand concepts better. I have experience tutoring social studies concepts like government forms, rights of citizens, levels of government, arms of government, American Political behavior, American History, World History, current affairs and other social studies topics.

Happy and Grateful

My daughter is behind in math and struggles with many of the concepts. Tobi has been very kind and patient yet persistent in introducing her to new concepts. He has introduced methods and processes that have helped her gain traction in new areas of learning. Because of his work with other 5th graders, he is aware of what topics are being taught and doing his best to pull her up to standard.
