My interest in science has taken me from earning a B.S. in Biochemistry with Honors at Georgetown University to investigating RNA in the Braselmann Lab and applying physiology as an EMT. Through my coursework and research, I developed a strong foundation in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I also scored a 521 on the MCAT and enjoy helping students develop the understanding and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in challenging science courses and standardized exams.
For four semesters and one summer, I taught college-aged students as an EMT course instructor at Georgetown. I demonstrated skills such as ventilation and splinting, then guided students through practice and repetition. Their questions often made me reconsider steps I had started to perform automatically and explain why each one mattered. I also volunteered in hands-on STEM activities with younger students through the Boys & Girls Club. What I found most rewarding was helping someone build confidence in a skill or concept that had initially intimidated them.
My approach to tutoring draws on the Harkness discussions I experienced at Phillips Exeter Academy, where learning depended on asking questions, listening carefully, and working through ideas together. I want our sessions to be a conversation: we'll identify where you're getting stuck, break complicated topics into manageable pieces, and practice applying them until you can explain your reasoning. Whether we're working through an organic chemistry reaction mechanism, a biochemistry pathway, or an MCAT passage, I'll adapt to your pace and make room for questions. My goal is for you to leave each session with a clearer understanding of the material and the confidence to approach unfamiliar problems on your own.
