Hi, I'm Larry! I'm a Duke University graduate with a Bachelor’s in Biology and a Minor in Computer Science, and I was also a Fulbright Research Scholar. I've worked in a variety of roles, including academic research and at a tech startup, and I’m excited to share my love of learning with my students! I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring, both privately and with companies and organizations. I primarily have worked with middle and high school students in SAT/ACT prep, AP courses, environmental fieldwork, and even guitar and taekwondo. My qualifications include all 5’s on 12 AP exams, 1550 on the SAT (first attempt, self studied), Biology Olympiad semifinalist, high school Science Olympiad president, 4.23 weighted high school GPA, and 3.88 unweighted bachelor’s GPA. Additionally, I specialize in college essay and application advising, guiding students to craft applications that authentically capture who they are and tell a compelling story.
I strive to create an interactive, supportive learning environment with all my students, combining material explanation with guided problem solving. I’m personally familiar with high school students’ academic challenges, and I’m skilled at tailoring my approach to support and motivate students based on their individualized learning styles. My goal is to help my students achieve the results they seek while equipping them with the long-term strategies to keep progressing independently.
