Hello Students!
I am a PhD biomedical scientist with over a decade of experience in biomedical research, teaching, and tutoring. I received my PhD in Biomedical Sciences from The University of California San Francisco in 2021 where I conducted primary research in human neurodevelopment that was published in Nature and Science. I have two years of tutoring experience working with both undergraduate and PhD students privately, in addition to experience as a classroom tutor and teaching assistant. I tutor students in biology, genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, anatomy & physiology, biochemistry, and biostatistics, from introductory courses through advanced undergraduate and graduate-level coursework.
My approach is focused on developing a genuine understanding of the material rather than simply memorizing facts or preparing for a single exam. I break down complex concepts into manageable pieces, explain the underlying scientific principles, and help students develop the problem-solving and critical-thinking skills needed to apply what they've learned. I tailor each session to the student's background, learning style, and academic goals, whether that means building a strong foundation, preparing for an exam, or working through challenging advanced coursework.
For students involved in biomedical research, I can also provide guidance on experimental design, data analysis, interpreting scientific literature and figures, and understanding biological concepts in a research context based on over a decade of research experience in both academic and industry settings. My goal is to make challenging material approachable while helping students become more confident and independent learners.
Looking forward to working with you and helping you to understand and appreciate the wonderful complexity of biological systems!
