In order to give my students a chance to comprehend my teaching style, I like to begin with a free 30-minute session that the parents are also welcome to join. By the end of the first session, I am able to understand the student learning profile and guide them accordingly.
In my teaching, I use various tools and modalities that help students comprehend and learn the subject easily. By creating a clear, goal-oriented session plan, I walk my students from simple to complex topics adding real life examples whenever possible. Focusing on student-centered session designs, and keeping them as the drivers of their learning experience; I am able to guide them in a holistic manner.
A key feature of my teaching involves preparing students for upcoming exams with special focus on time management and overcoming exam anxiety. I also conduct post exam analysis to assess the strengths and gaps in concepts and learning methods.
Having counseled and mentored over 1000 students from various demographics in a community college, I truly believe that every student has a potential that can be harnessed in reaching their goals. I have taught diverse group of students including veterans, foster care students, single moms, and incarcerated youth. Many of them have gone to successful majors/careers of their choice.
