As a local Saint Mary's graduate, and East Bay teacher I have a unique ability to connect with many of my students on many different levels.
***I was a double major in Philosophy and Politics at Saint Mary's College. During undergrad I was able to study with the most politically opposed departments on campus. Among these different ideologies I found the importance of nuance, communication, and most of all patience. I very quickly learned that the only way to circumvent the hypocrisy on each side was to read the most.
***Through college I studied and trained one on one with professors in logic, ethics of politics, and linguistics.
***Throughout grade school reading and writing did not come naturally to me. Speaking, debating and thinking critically however, did come naturally. The impulse to debate, converse, and adapt has always been the heart of what drives my studies and my discipline.
***It is my hope that through explaining my own struggles with literature, writing and rhetoric, I can encourage students to believe in themselves and find their own motivation to grow their literary skills.
***I have four years of full time teaching experience. My students range anywhere from 1st grade to 11th grade in regards to their literary abilities.
***I feel confident prepping students for college level work from my own educational journey.
***I also feel comfortable and have a multitude of experiences helping low performing students get up to grade level.
***Comfortable reading and adhering to IEP & 504 plans.
