With over 15 yrs experience, I have a solid background in tutoring students from elementary math to college algebra. I also have an extensive tutoring background in a variety of subjects, including but not limited to Language Arts and Biology as well as Math. A sample of my experience consists of helping students write essays, interpret bio-scientific concepts, and solve quadratic equations. My specialized area is math with age groups varying from preschool to college level. I have experience working with elementary age students. I have also tutored middle and high school students in pre-algebra & algebra and college students in college level algebra. Hands on experience allowed me to become skilled at how to best approach each student, with consideration to their proficiency in that subject or assignment.

I am passionate about helping students improve in their academic goals. I pride myself on teaching students how to use their time and resources effectively while building their confidence with their approach to assignments, homework and test-taking skills. I appreciate the opportunity and privilege of successfully tutoring a student and making a positive difference in their immediate and future studies.

I will request your feedback with regard to your child's tutoring experience with me. If not completely satisfied with my tutoring session, I will not bill you for that. I require 12 hours for cancellations, however I will offer make-up session. I am willing to tutor at your home, a library or any other venue as long as it is quiet study environment.

I have a Bachelor's degree from USC. My tutoring experience began at an Elementary Magnet School while I attended USC in Los Angeles. I have tutored on both a volunteer and paid basis for over 15 years. I attend courses annually to stay current with the latest teaching criteria and techniques for school age children. My most recent tutoring experiences are with a tutoring agency, AB Tutoring, where I provide in-home one-on-one tutoring for children in 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th grades. I accommodate each student by providing a comprehensive curriculum ranging from English, Science, Math, Social Studies, and History based on the student's needs & learning style. After evaluating, I customize my teaching concepts to effectively administer each tutoring session. I encourage and embrace respectful, trusting and caring relationships with students and parents by way of open and honest two-way communication.

Great Tutor - Very Valuable Resource

Belinda has been working with our son since early April 2015. Her focus is building self-confidence in the subject matter which has helped his performance. Our son’s grade in Algebra II improved since he began working with her. Belinda is a competent, encouraging and effective tutor. She is always courteous and punctual. We are happy to have her helping our son.

Very patient and knowledgeable tutor

Belinda is a great teacher. My daughter has a diagnosed learning disability in math. Belinda did a great job of explaining concepts to her in different ways so she could understand them. Belinda had great suggestions and brought many materials with her to help my daughter. My daughter is starting college next year and Belinda has been able to help her a great deal. We have had many tutors over the years and Belinda has been the best! It is difficult to find a tutor who can explain mathematical concepts in different ways. Belinda is able to do this. Belinda is very patient and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her for students of all ages.

Reached my son through creativity

Belinda was fantastic. My son has struggled with math and his self-confidence has plummeted. He's constantly saying he's bad at math and is dumb and was nervous going into tutoring. Belinda immediately took some time to get to know him first, and then eased into the math. She did a much better job explaining the concepts than the book did, and used colored pencils which really appeared to his artistic side. My son felt so much more confident after just one lesson. Looking forward to working with Belinda more!

Kind, knowledgeable and patient tutor!

Belinda is an amazing tutor. From the first time she came to our house her warm spirit made my kids so comfortable with her. She’s been coming to tutor my kids for over a month now and they love her. She is kind, patient and knowledgeable. Her teaching style is unique in that she teaches multiple skills at the same time, for instance she gives my 6 year old math word problems which helps with reading skills, comprehension and math all in one. So glad we found her!
