Graphic Design Coach Focused on Real Work, Not Just Homework

I’m a graphic designer with over 30 years of experience and a high school design teacher for the past decade. I’ve worked with students at all levels—freshmen just figuring things out, and seniors building college-ready portfolios. I teach full time at El Dorado High School in Placentia, where I also run a student-powered design studio that takes on real projects for actual clients. We call it Design Rescue, and it's as real-world as it gets.

My background includes everything from branding and logo design to packaging, typography, and Adobe Creative Suite. I’ve worked in the industry for years—at places like Experian and in freelance roles where tight deadlines and high standards were just part of the job. I bring all of that into the classroom, and into any tutoring I do.

My approach is pretty simple: meet students where they are, help them build skills and confidence, and show them how to think like designers. Whether we’re starting with the basics or refining a portfolio piece, I keep things practical, creative, and focused on what actually works.
