I have been teaching for almost 20 years. I graduated from UCLA with a bachelors degree in Sociology and went on to receive my multiple subject credential from Point Loma University. From there, I worked at a Sylvan Learning Center for four years tutoring kids of all ages in math, reading, and study skills. During that time, I was also substitute teaching for all grade levels in various public schools. Even though I have had experience teaching grades K-8, I have mostly worked with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. My first full time teaching job was at Immaculate Conception School where I taught 5th grade for two years. My second full time teaching job was at St. Stephen Martyr School where I taught 3rd and 4th grade for eight years. A few of those years included teaching a combo class for both grades. My most current teaching job was at San Gabriel Mission Elementary School where I taught 5th grade for the first three years and 3rd grade for the last three. Recently, due to the Corona virus, I had to teach my students via distance learning using the online platforms Seesaw and Google Classroom. At all of these schools, I taught all of the general academic subjects including Religion. Furthermore, my experience has entailed developing and implementing weekly lesson plans for all subjects, which not only aligned to CA and Archdiocesan standards, but were able to be modified to meet various student needs. Student achievement was assessed through weekly tests and quizzes, informal observations, exit tickets, report cards, progress reports, portfolios, and standardized testing. I also participated in many professional development workshops and was involved in the STEP program, which benefits academically challenged students. I am confident that I can offer you many positive qualities as a teacher/tutor. I am passionate about my career and totally committed to my students. Besides having a strong work ethic, I’m also very creative, energetic, and well-organized. I have always succeeded in creating a fun and comfortable classr
