Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I am a former high school math teacher with a math degree from Carleton College and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. My ACT tutoring balances core content like pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics with essential test-taking strategies including pacing, backsolving, and question-type recognition. I help students streamline their problem-solving so they can navigate all 60 questions with greater speed, precision, and confidence.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I am a former high school Algebra 1 teacher with a math degree from Carleton College and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. My tutoring adapts to each student's needs and curriculum, typically including linear equations, graphing, systems of equations, inequalities, and exponents. Rather than memorizing rules or steps, I make the material approachable by helping students visualize functions and develop their own problem-solving strategies.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I am a former high school Algebra 2 teacher with a math degree from Carleton College and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. My tutoring adapts to the student's needs and school curriculum, typically including quadratic functions, polynomial behavior, exponential and logarithmic relationships, and systems of equations. Rather than relying only on memorized steps and plug-and-chug routines, I also help my students understand how functions behave visually and algebraically.
Calculus

Calculus

I have a math degree from Carleton College, work experience at Carleton's Math Skills Center, and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. Having successfully completed calculus coursework across Carleton College, UMich-Ann Arbor, and CU-Denver, I tutor high school and college students through limits, derivatives, integrals, and series. Don't get bogged down in mechanical steps. Work with me to visualize rates of change and area, connect geometric intuition to algebraic manipulation, and build confidence for exams and real-world applications.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I have a math degree from Carleton College (cum laude), where I worked in the Math Skills Center and completed coursework including Mathematical Structures and Abstract Algebra. Later, I earned graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. I help computer science and math students master formal logic, truth tables, proof by induction, combinatorics, set theory, and graph theory. I focus on helping students break down abstract proofs into clear, structured steps.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I help young learners build strong numerical fluency and foundational problem-solving skills in a low-pressure environment. Visual thinking is very important to me. By focusing on visual models, intuitive arithmetic, and clear word-problem strategies, I help elementary students master core classroom standards. My goal is to foster genuine math confidence early on so students transition seamlessly into higher-level coursework.
French

French

I'm an American who has studied French since 1998, earned a DALF C1 certification at the Alliance Française in New York City, lived and worked in a Francophone country, and read classic literature ranging from Le Petit Prince to Les Misérables. My tutoring adapts to each student's goals, whether they're learning French for travel, professional opportunities, personal enrichment, or a future move to a Francophone country such as Canada. Lessons typically focus on conversational fluency, essential grammar, reading comprehension, and vocabulary expansion. Rather than relying on rigid memorization, I help students express themselves naturally, understand underlying patterns, navigate false cognates, and build confidence in both speaking and writing.
Geometry

Geometry

I am a former high school Geometry teacher with a math degree from Carleton College and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. My tutoring adapts directly to each student's needs and curriculum, typically covering coordinate geometry, triangle congruence, geometric proofs, circle theorems, and spatial reasoning. Rather than just memorizing formulas or steps, I help students love the problem, not the solution, learning to visualize spatial relationships and construct logical arguments with confidence.
GMAT

GMAT

I am a former high school math teacher and Carleton College math graduate. Based on my standardized test performance, I was awarded an Indiana University MBA program Dean’s Fellowship. I adapt my tutoring to each student, typically focusing on topics like number properties, algebra, word problems, and data sufficiency strategy. Not just shortcut memorization, I help students recognize underlying problem structures, eliminate trap answers, and approach quantitative reasoning problems effectively.
GRE

GRE

I am a former GRE prep instructor with a math degree from Carleton College and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. My GRE tutoring focuses on core quantitative content like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis, as well strategic logic specific to the GRE's Quantitative Comparison and multiple-choice questions. Moving beyond rote memorization, I help students recognize underlying problem structures, sidestep test-trap answers, and approach the GRE math section with speed and confidence.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

Let's level up your Excel game. Based on my background in corporate FP&A, research informatics, and applied mathematics, I will tailor our sessions to your priorities. Typical topics include data cleaning, dynamic lookup functions (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), pivot tables, and scenario modeling. With or without AI, learn to transform unorganized raw data into clean, automated, and validated models that do the job.
Physics

Physics

I help make physics concepts more intuitive and visual. Whether you are tackling mechanics, thermodynamics, or electromagnetism, my goal is to break down intimidating formulas into clear, understandable principles. With a quantitative background from Carleton College, Duke, and Indiana University, I help students improve their problem-solving techniques, navigate word problems, and build confidence in high school and college-level physics.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I help middle school and introductory high school students build a foundation for algebra. My tutoring adapts directly to each student's specific needs and school curriculum but typically covers order of operations, fractions, ratios, signed numbers, and single-variable linear equations. Rather than relying on rigid rules or rote memorization, I help students develop their own visual and/or intuitive problem-solving strategies so they can transition into Algebra 1 confidently.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I help make Precalculus concepts more intuitive and engaging. With a BA in math from Carleton College, Master's degrees from Duke and Indiana University, and classroom teaching experience, I help students master function transformations, unit circle trigonometry, and logarithms. Using a step-by-step and visual (where possible) approach, we will transform graphing and identity problems into clearer, more solvable puzzles. My goal is to help students build understanding and develop problem-solving confidence.
Probability

Probability

I help high school, university, and test-prep students improve in theoretical and applied probability. I tailor sessions to meet your needs, and typical topics include combinatorics, conditional probability, Bayes' theorem, discrete/continuous distributions, and expected value. Instead of just formula memorization, I help students think visually, analyze sample spaces, and choose valid frames of reference.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I am a former math teacher with a math degree from Carleton College (cum laude) and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. My SAT tutoring focuses on core content like algebra, advanced math, problem-solving, and geometry but also strategic test-taking skills, including efficient Desmos usage, backsolving, and avoiding trap answers. I help students recognize problem patterns and approach the SAT with speed, accuracy, and confidence.
Statistics

Statistics

I earned a math degree from Carleton College and have experience applying statistical methods to problems in science, finance, and business. My tutoring focuses on your needs, with typical topics including descriptive statistics, probability, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression analysis, and data interpretation. I help students move past plug-and-chug formulas so they can analyze datasets, build valid statistical models, and understand the logic behind their results.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

A former high school math teacher, I earned a math degree from Carleton College and graduate degrees from Duke and Indiana University. I adapt each tutoring session to meet student needs, with typical topics including right-triangle trigonometry, the unit circle, identities, wave graphs, and inverse functions. Not just formula memorization, I help my students visualize geometric relationships and begin to apply trigonometry to problems in algebra, calculus, and physics.
