I am a credentialed K–12 educator with more than five years of full-time classroom teaching experience across Pasadena, Alhambra, and Monrovia Unified School Districts in the greater Los Angeles area. My subject strengths are English Language Arts, grammar, writing, and reading comprehension, though I am comfortable and effective teaching across all core subjects at every grade level from elementary through high school.

Before transitioning to education, I spent decades as a senior communications and marketing executive at major media organizations including KCET Public Television, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times. That career was built entirely on writing, editing, storytelling, and clear communication — skills I bring directly into every tutoring session.

I hold an MA in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business, along with a California K–12 General Education Teaching Credential. My approach is calm, structured, and student-centered. I meet students where they are, work through their actual assignments and challenges, and focus on building real proficiency rather than just getting through homework.

I have worked with students across a wide range of learning styles, backgrounds, and ability levels, including special education inclusion classrooms. Whether a student needs help with a grammar concept, a reading assignment, an essay, or just building confidence as a writer, I bring both the academic credentials and the real-world communication experience to make a genuine difference

English

English

I am a California credentialed K–12 educator with more than five years of full-time classroom teaching experience in English across elementary, middle, and high school levels. I hold an MA from Northwestern University and an MBA from NYU Stern, both of which required advanced mastery of academic English at the graduate level. My professional career as a senior communications executive at KCET Public Television, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times further deepened my expertise in written and verbal English across a wide range of formats and audiences. I work effectively with students of all ages and ability levels to build confidence, accuracy, and fluency in English.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I have extensive essay writing experience spanning both professional and academic settings. As a senior communications executive at KCET Public Television, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times, I wrote and edited speeches, donor communications, editorial content, and broadcast scripts for diverse audiences. In the classroom, I have guided K–12 students across Pasadena, Alhambra, and Monrovia Unified School Districts in developing strong essays across multiple genres including persuasive, expository, and narrative writing. I hold an MA from Northwestern University and an MBA from NYU Stern, giving me firsthand experience with graduate-level academic writing standards and expectations.
Grammar

Grammar

Grammar has been central to both my teaching and my professional career. As a full-time K–12 substitute teacher across three Los Angeles area school districts, I have taught grammar concepts to students from elementary through high school, adapting my instruction to meet each student's level and learning style. My decades-long career as a senior communications executive required precise command of grammar in every format — from broadcast scripts and speeches to donor communications, newsletters, and editorial content. I hold advanced degrees from Northwestern University and NYU Stern, and I bring both academic rigor and practical real-world writing experience to every grammar session.
Reading

Reading

I have taught reading comprehension across all grade levels during more than five years of full-time classroom instruction in Pasadena, Alhambra, and Monrovia Unified School Districts. My approach focuses on building genuine understanding — helping students identify main ideas, analyze text structure, interpret meaning, and respond critically to what they read. My graduate-level academic background at Northwestern University and NYU Stern required extensive reading and analysis of complex texts, giving me a strong foundation for guiding students through challenging material. I work with students at every level, from foundational readers to those preparing for AP and standardized exams.
Writing

Writing

Writing is the thread that runs through my entire career — from the classroom to the executive suite. I have taught writing across all grade levels during more than five years of full-time K–12 classroom instruction, helping students develop their voice, structure their ideas, and communicate clearly and effectively. Before entering education, I spent decades as a senior communications executive at KCET Public Television, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times, where I wrote and edited speeches, scripts, newsletters, advertising copy, and corporate communications. I hold an MA from Northwestern University and an MBA from NYU Stern, and I bring both academic depth and professional writing experience to every student I work with.
