Hi, I'm Henry! I am a college student studying math at Caltech (4.00 GPA). I love math, but it can be very challenging and frustrating for many people, even for me at times. The best parts of math are when you can have an exciting moment of discovery, noticing a connection between different topics or a clever way to find a solution. I think that doing math is actually an incredibly creative art, but in school, it can often feel boring and repetitive.
In my tutoring, I hope I can help you...
In my tutoring, I hope I can help you to experience those exciting moments. I try to introduce topics, so that the student can discover the result themself, instead of just being told a formula. Of course, it's also important to do many practice problems and examples to understand anything well. Since I was a first-year high school student, I have been tutoring other students. I have experience tutoring advanced students, peer tutoring at my high school, helping students work on individual projects at a summer program, tutoring at math circle, and tutoring students who are struggling and need extra help. I am also a volunteer math tutor for high school students at the Rise program here at Caltech.
I can help with any math topic, from adding fractions, to calculus, to math olympiads. I got a perfect 1600 on the SAT, so I can also help teach test-taking skills for similar standardized tests.
