Hi! My name is Caly, and I am a graduate from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and minor in Psychology and completed up to multivariable calculus. Throughout the years, I have found that my passion has always been in education, and I am currently in the process of applying for a California teaching certification. I have previously worked at a distinguished biotech firm in the immunology laboratory.
I have tutored over one hundred students from grades K-12 and beyond. My main subjects are mathematics up to calculus, biology, and chemistry. I have done independent, in-person tutoring with students from 2011 to present-day, performed volunteer tutoring and classroom assistance in middle school and high schools as well as after-school programs (2013 – 2016), taught up to three students at a time in a test prep company (2018), and have helped a number of adults through community college classes and vocational exams.
I believe that the key to success in all learning lies in the understanding of major and underlying concepts, review, and application. My goal is to provide students methods to efficiently build their knowledge (note-taking, mnemonic devices, and breaking down steps) and develop the tools (application and practice) to eventually solve novel problems independently.
