Dear parent and/or student,

First and foremost, thank you for having taken a few minutes to look at my tutor profile. I come to Wyzant with experience as an online and in-person tutor in the following subjects: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB, Chemistry, Spanish, and French. Dear parent and/or student,

First and foremost, thank you for having taken a few minutes to look at my tutor profile. I come to Wyzant with experience as an online and in-person tutor in the following subjects: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus AB, Chemistry, Spanish, and French. When I meet with students, both online or in person, I aim to establish myself on the same ground. I believe this is really important, because an already existent academic struggle may be damaging to a student's self-esteem and understanding of academic potential. For example, I sometimes makes it clear to the student there were subjects I found challenging when I was in his/her shoes. Fundamentally, I believe that a tutor's communication style is so important in empowering and supporting a student facing an academic challenge for the better.

In general, I allow the family members or parents to govern how I help their child/sibling to best meet his/her needs. I try to introduce my students to various learning methods: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, oral, or a combination. I, for instance, learn better when I write (and read as I write) information to then compartmentalize that information in my brain using analogies, acronyms, or a concept map. Such a learning strategy could help one not only understand a concept better but also remember it for a test, for example.

My study of algebra began in middle school. I earned an A average then. Additionally, I passed the Mathematics section of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) with a 500, which is the highest possible score. In high school, I was able to move onto Advanced Placement Calculus AB and Statistics, which necessitates the application of basic and advanced algebra concepts (e.g., factoring and distributive property). Ultimately, I believe I have a gift for teaching algebra concepts to middle, high school, college, and non-traditional students.

I have been a private Biology tutor for almost 8 years.

I took Calculus AB in high school and earned a 5 on the College Board AP examination.

I took Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry in high school and passed the College Board examination in May. In college, my major was chemistry. I also pursued nutrition in graduate school, which requires the application of pre-requisite knowledge such as general chemistry, basic organic chemistry, and biology.
French

French

English is my second language (Spanish is my native tongue). Influenced by my middle school Spanish teacher, I decided to begin my study of the French language in high school. I was able to take Advanced Placement (AP) French Language and Culture and pass the College Board examination in May. In college, I continued with my study of the French Language. Although I didn't major in it, learning the French Language as a non-native speaker made me focused on learning the grammar rules that native French speakers perhaps don't think about. Additionally, there has been a reciprocally beneficial relationship between each of the 3 languages I have studied formally and informally, as my study of the French Language has enhanced my understanding of Spanish and English, and vice versa.

I have experience translating and interpreting. In the summer, I volunteer at a business in my hometown that primarily assists Spanish-speaking immigrants. I am also member of WesInterpreters, which is a group of students that translates and interprets for Connecticut Legal Services and New Horizons. Additionally, I've been tutoring my peers in Spanish through the Dean's Office Peer Tutoring Program for two years now.

English was my second language, and my eventual study of additional languages like French and Italian has enhanced my understanding of the English language, specifically grammar and vocabulary. I also studied nutrition communications in graduate school, so I was trained to be attentive to diction and the concept of audience.

He helped me a lot very much so with my chemistry. He was very patient with me and helped me solve problems easily. I learned how to easily solve problems by the steps he showed me to figure them out. I highly recommend him. He is very bright and can teach you step by step with chemistry.
