Bio

I have been teaching Italian since 1984 and successfully prepared travelers for their journeys in all aspects: language, history, geography, art, food, music, fashion.
I also tutor all age students who take Italian in school.

My first approach consists in figuring out what type of student I work with (auditory vs. visual) and adapt my method based on what works best for the learner.

Including the history and roots of the language in the learning process makes my students eager to return.

For school age tutoring I study the program and engage my students in effective long term understanding of the grammar and its rules in addition to implementing conversation skills.

I also teach 'parent and me' classes to have toddlers and children learn Italian at the same time as English and creating the bilingual child. Parents learn at the same time and reinforce the vocabulary when the teacher/coach is not with them.

Born and raised in Italy. Graduated from the University of Pisa, completed all credits in English and French. Finished Doctorate in Demography in 1984. Completed all required credits in Pedagogy and Psychology. Tutored Italian and French to all age students in Italy. Taught French for beginners for five years from 1985 to 1990 after moving to California. Taught and tutored Italian all levels since 1984 in addition to simultaneous interpreting and translating. Taught a course relating to the Divine Comedy' and 'Promessi Sposi'.

really enjoying lessons

Daiana is not only a great teacher and well-versed in the levels of Italian and how to improve even if you’re at an advanced student level. She has a wealth of knowledge of history, archaeology and linguistics and makes the lesson conversation truly interesting. Identifies your weaknesses in the language while still being encouraging and positive. Really grateful to have found her as a tutor.

Excellent Tutor

She teaches me the way that I learn. I am methodical and logical in my Approach to learning Italian. I want to be fluent and to read and write Italian so I need more than conversational instruction and I need explanations for maximum retention.
