Hi! I’m Aila, a UCLA Biochemistry graduate who completed my B.S. in 3 years with a 3.93 GPA, Latin Honors, and Departmental Highest Honors. I tutor elementary, middle, and high school students in STEM, as well as English for younger students, and I also offer UC admissions help.
I have 2 years of tutoring experience at Kumon in Rolling Hills Estates, where I worked with elementary students on reading, English, math, homework, and foundational skills. I’m also a former Rolling Hills Country Day School student, so I’m familiar with middle school curriculum and expectations and can help with math, science, studying, and homework.
For high school students, I tutor Chemistry through AP Chemistry and university General Chemistry, Biology through introductory college biology, Math through pre-calculus, and AP Physics 1, 2, C: Mechanics, and C: Electricity & Magnetism. I earned 5s on all of my AP Physics exams. At UCLA, I was also a Learning Assistant for General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, supporting undergraduate students.
I also help with UC admissions! I was accepted to every UC campus I applied to and can help with PIQs, activity descriptions, award descriptions, and overall application strategy.
A few other academic achievements: UCLA Dean’s Honors List, 5.0 weighted high school GPA with straight A’s, National Merit Commended Scholar, and 2x AP Scholar with Distinction after taking 12 APs in 3 years.
I tutor because I genuinely care about helping students learn. I know how discouraging it can be when you’re working hard but a class still isn’t clicking. My goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students actually understand the material and become more confident.
I can create a curriculum from scratch or work with a student’s existing materials. When helpful, I also offer check-ins by text/email for studying, assignments, and accountability. I’ve struggled with procrastination myself, so I understand how much a little encouragement and accountability can help.
