I’m Mateja! I’m currently pursuing a dual degree at Duke Kunshan University in China and Duke University in the U.S., majoring in Ethics and Leadership with a Religious Studies track. Alongside my academic studies, music has been a lifelong passion. I trained for 12 years at a conservatory in operatic vocals and violin. That experience taught me not only the technical foundations of performance but also the patience, creativity, and empathy needed to teach others.
Since January 2024, I’ve worked as an English Tutor on the Ringle platform, where I’ve delivered over 500 hours (600+ individual lessons) of personalized tutoring to non-native speakers from diverse cultural backgrounds. I’ve helped students improve their fluency and confidence through tailored, conversation-based sessions that focus on real-life language use and comprehension. Whether working on pronunciation, reading strategies, or everyday communication, I adapt my approach to match each student’s learning style and goals.
I bring that same adaptability to tutoring in general music, vocals, and reading. I emphasize building a strong foundation while making lessons enjoyable and empowering. In music and voice lessons, I balance technique with self-expression, encouraging students to find their own sound. In reading and ESL, I focus on understanding, engagement, and skill-building through supportive dialogue and interactive exercises. Above all, I aim to create a positive and respectful space where students feel heard and motivated. I’m always happy to connect with new students and families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
