Hi, I'm Ari! I'm 32 years old and have a Bachelor's degree in music as well as several years experience teaching private guitar and music theory.

Although I studied music more formally in college, I started my journey in music learning on my own or with friends before finding tutors who introduced me to a whole new way of approaching music. While I was in college, I studied many styles and was a part of both contemporary, classical and jazz groups. In addition to teaching, I have played in various bands and worked on music projects over the years. With this background, I have the ability to help beginners learn guitar, play multiple styles, and also learn more of the theory behind music if they are interested.

While my education has been in music, I have worked for several years in various youth non-profits, and have experience working with and managing after school programs for kids and youth. I have over 15 years of experience in tutoring, mentoring and facilitating workshops for kids ages 5-18yrs. More specifically, I have helped students with reading, writing, math and study skills in addition to working with students who have learning differences.

Personally, I enjoy tutoring because I get to work one on one with students and help them reach a level of proficiency where they are excited to learn and proud of their progress. Whether teaching music or providing academic support, my teaching style consists of listening to students and focusing on how they learn best in order to customize sessions to help students meet their goals. I truly enjoy designing fun, engaging activities that challenge students at the appropriate skill level and help them develop confidence.

I have played guitar for over 15 years, and as a child I took private piano, guitar and drum lessons. When I started high school I studied music theory and continued my education in college where I studied popular music styles with an emphasis in composing and arranging and my main instrument of focus was guitar. In 2015 I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree and have since enjoyed tutoring, playing and participating in various music projects. Over the years, my performance experience has included played guitar in several groups of various styles, including worship bands, pop bands, a classical guitar group and a jazz ensemble. I also have 2 years of experience teaching private music lessons, including instruction in guitar, piano, drums and music theory. Through teaching, I've seen students develop more confidence and proficiency with their instruments, expand their understanding of music theory and continue to make and enjoy music.

I have played guitar for over 15 years and started more formal education in guitar with private teachers when I was in middle school and high school. I focused on learning classical and pop styles and played in bands as well. In college, I studied two tracks of guitar, one for classical and one for jazz and popular styles, both of which were under the tutelage of private guitar instructors who were professors and professional musicians. I also performed in classical and jazz groups during college where I learned to accompany other musicians, solo and perform in a band. While I was in college, I also taught private guitar and music lessons for a couple years and saw great success in students who learned to read music and play songs. Throughout the years, I have enjoyed playing guitar for various bands, singer-songwriters and enjoy playing and teaching a wide range of genres, including classical guitar, pop and jazz. I specifically love introducing people to guitar and teaching beginners!

Amazing and patient teacher!

From the moment the lesson began, Ari was right there, focused on making sure that our son understood everything she was showing him. Our son has never played an instrument before and he’s also on the Autism spectrum so he requires some information to be modified for his understanding. We love how engaging and demonstrative she was with him. She took the time to go over each concept with him and made sure that he understood it and was ready to move on to the next one. He is so excited and so are we for his next lesson. He couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved playing the guitar. My 7 yrs old son, who is just learning how to play guitar can play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star after the first lesson. She's very patient and know how to engage him. He's so focus on the lesson rather than running all over the place, unlike how he did with remote learning. =p She can challenge him to do more. Definitely recommend her for a tutor.
