Hi, I look forward to working with your student! I am a test prep specialist with nearly a decade of experience teaching the SAT, ACT, and advanced high-school STEM coursework. Currently a graduate student at Stanford majoring in Biomedical Data Science, I obtained my STEM undergraduate degree from a top UC. My background includes over eight years of graduate-level training and academic research, which has given me the ability to break down tricky concepts clearly, listen patiently, and help your student gain learning confidence over time!

I work primarily with high-school sophomores and juniors preparing for the SAT, but I also tutor college students and advanced learners. Over the past four years, I have taught both one-on-one and in classroom settings of up to 30 students. My teaching style is structured, supportive, and results-driven. Students often say my explanations help concepts “finally click” and make challenging material feel manageable.

Subjects I teach include the SAT (all sections) and ACT, GRE, and GMAT exams, math from Pre-Calc/Algebra I/II through Calculus and Statistics, AP Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, and Computer Science A, as well as reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, and academic or thesis writing spanning from high school through graduate and professional levels.

My academic awards include an NIH T32 pre-doctoral training grant, a Genetics Training Grant, the President’s Award in Biotechnology at Georgetown University, a Best SBIR Business Pitch award, and the UCLA Undergraduate Research Award with Honors Thesis distinction.

Past academic credentials, GPA and test scores:

UCLA GPA 3.75; UCSD M.S. GPA 3.5; Stanford M.S. GPA 3.5; SAT 1540 (780 Math, 760 Reading)
Scores of 5 in AP Biology, AP Physics, and AP Chemistry; 4 in AP Calculus and AP U.S. History.

Chemistry

Chemistry

PhD in biochemistry and more than 4 years experience teaching high school students.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I am currently a M.S. in data science student at Stanford university, with skills in python, Javascript, Perl, Unix, R and advanced data visualization techniques. My studies focus on deep learning for biomedical and health-tech applpications. I have built web applications, deployed, shipped and managed software products in startups and corporate settings. I also have taught computer science (in various languages, but Java/Javascript, python and C++ are my most requested languages) at the high school level for AP Computer science, general programming fluency and mentored students in technology and computer science hackathon competitions. I am confident that your student will improve dramatically after only a few sessions of working with me, as I focus on understanding tricky core concepts and high yield practice with hands on projects and assignments. I can help your student prepare for an upcoming exam (such as APs), prepare for a competition, and/or stand out to elite engineering and CS colleges through a bespoke and effective application coaching program.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I have more than half a decade of experience with academic writing, grant writing for scientific applications, professional writing for executive summaries, technical applications, and college/graduate school application essay writing. In addition to graduate level essay writing, I have also competed in poetry and short story writing competitions, and have diverse experience teaching students how to develop their own authentic voice, and employ a variety of grade and subject-appropriate techniques in writing and literary crafting.
JavaScript

JavaScript

In both my academic work and industry experience, I regularly build and maintain production-level web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks, with an emphasis on clean architecture, reusability, and long-term maintainability. I’m a practicing data scientist and a current graduate student at Stanford, where I focus on computational biology and applied software development.
Python

Python

I have over 3 years of experience with the language, from my graduate research work at Stanford and UC San Diego, as well as 1 year of industry data science experience with a heavy focus on visualization plots from my projects in computational biology/bioinformatics.
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

I have taught this exam for more than 4 years and am fluent in all the tricks and tips and proven strategies for the SATs. I specialize in reading and grammar of the SATs section as that can be dramatically improved with learning how to master the test. Coming from a strong STEM and quantitative background, I also have helped my students improve their math scores significantly, with many of them often scoring near perfect in the high 700s in math!
