Writing can often be a difficult skill to hone. Many times we are learning from an English teacher who has become an English teacher because they LOVE WRITING, and they love writing because they are good at it. What about the rest of us?

I have had the unique experience of being both. In college, I was a lover of literature, but found out that I wasn't as great of a writer as I thought. Just like many students, I focused on the writing first, wanting my writing to "sound smart" and impress...

Just like many students, I focused on the writing first, wanting my writing to "sound smart" and impress my teachers. Yet, this kind of writing HIDES one's ideas. I was fortunate to have my UCI English instructor sit with me for hours, going line by line, explaining the basics, the advanced techniques, and the nuances one can use TO THINK while writing. I was taught how to use writing to convey my thoughts, not to use my thoughts to make me seem like a good writer.

Writing is the vehicle our minds use to drive our ideas into new, better ideas.

I focus on the thinking first. Becoming a more methodical thinker can make one a more poignant writer.

One can be a methodical thinker at any age and any level. Being smart is not a prerequisite for writing, but writing CAN MAKE YOU SMARTER. I can show you how.

I'm interested in what YOU KNOW and I will show you HOW TO THINK ABOUT IT. Then the writing comes naturally.

A good writer lies dormant in all of us. We all have something interesting to say. You already have within you the means, the content, the vehicle with which to write. My Roadmap to Writing can show you that you also have the ability to drive your writing and thinking to new places and new heights.

Let me teach you the Roadmap to GREAT Writing, skills that you can use for the rest of your life and for any piece of writing you have.

Proofreading

I have been proofreading for over 20 years for both academics and business-related content. I have been an English teacher for over 15 years in various capacities wherein I’ve proofread English essays, namely and most significantly AP Language essays. Because of the nature of test prep for the AP exam I have proofread and scored over 10,000 essays for that class. Moreover, those students prepare personal essays for university when they are in my class and during the months after. I have help many of them through the entire process - brainstorming, organizing, drafting, revising, and polishing - to create not only polished coherent papers, but poignant ones; essays that evoke emotions in the reader and convey the writer in an extraordinary way.

Great teacher!

Nicole fit my daughter into her schedule with very short notice, and gave her very good pointers, boosted her confidence and prepared her for the AP Lang exam.

Very Knowledgeable and Helpful!

I needed help with a massive research paper that would make or break my grade so I reached out to Nicole. I was never very confident in my writing ability but Nicole helped me organize my thoughts and time in a way I'd never have before - and it worked! She knows all of the ins and outs of writing and helped me get an A. I would recommend her to anyone struggling with writing in their AP course.

Great AP Lang Tutor!

She really goes in depth in her explanations of various concepts and makes sure that you have a full understanding of whatever topic you’re on by the end of the session. I really appreciate her flexibility in terms of scheduling as well! She’s charismatic, nice, and I always have fun (doing English of all things!) and learn a lot!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Nicole tutored my daughter’s high school AS English, and so far helped my daughter achieve high score in her book reading analysis within a very short time. She is professional and knowledgeable. The video of the lesson also helps a lot for parents understand what’s going on with the tutoring session. My daughter is also able to play back to understand and absorb more in her own pace later. All in all, a very positive experience with Nicole and we will stick to her for our future lessons. Thank you!

Great lesson

Nicole is a very experienced coach. She reviewed my daughter’s college essay draft and provided critical feedback for how an admission officer could receive the message as a reader. She is excellent in providing tips about how the message could be conveyed in a more effective way and improve the overall tone of the message.

Great AP English tutor!

My son has a positive feedback about Nicole's class. And I like the after-class video and my son can review again. And we also get a summary about the class. Wow, great!
