Hi, I’m Patty! I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology conferred by Oregon State University and rearticulated by University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Most currently, I completed graduate coursework at the California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) College of Education. I have taught and tutored the K-12 gamete of subjects—as well as have published and presented nationally representative quantitative research with the American Statistical Association (ASA). I am a member of professional organizations like the National Education Association (NEA), the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and the ASA.
I specialize in mathematics from elementary arithmetic to AP Calculus AB and have 10+ years experience. When teaching and tutoring, I build from student strengths and existing knowledge. I also welcome the Socratic method to develop critical thinking skills and reinforce comprehension. I have taught and tutored students in elementary school, middle school, high school, and college, including both traditional and nontraditional students (e.g., students with special needs related to autism, ADHD, learning differences; emergent bilingual students; and foster youth). In addition to teaching and tutoring, I have worked with K-16 students as a college advisor and residential counselor.
I would love to help you or your student academically succeed! I am a message away and always provide a quick response. Please feel welcome to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session!
