Hi! I’m Colin. I’m an incoming Applied Mathematics student at the University of California, Davis, and I graduated from Skyline College with an Associate in Science in Mathematics for Transfer. I have a strong background in math, including algebra, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential equations. I am especially interested in tutoring Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, and Linear Algebra. I enjoy working through mathematical ideas carefully and helping students understand the reasoning behind each step.

My tutoring experience has mostly been informal and one-on-one. I have helped peers and my younger siblings with a variety of math topics, especially when they needed help understanding homework problems, reviewing concepts, or building confidence with confusing material. I aim to build confidence by walking students through the “why” behind each step of a problem. When helpful, I can also provide memory aids, shortcuts, or clearer ways to remember important methods. By helping others, I have learned to be patient, adaptable, and attentive to how each student thinks through a problem so I can help them as effectively as possible.

I have always been a student who likes to ask plenty of questions in class, and I want students to feel comfortable asking me questions, too. Questions are an important part of learning, especially in math, where one confusing step can make an entire problem feel harder than it really is. My goal is to create a calm and supportive tutoring environment where students can strengthen their understanding, build confidence, and become more independent problem-solvers.
