I am a passionate educator with over a decade of experience tutoring and teaching across a range of subjects and age groups. I hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (authorized for grades TK-6), a Supplemental Authorization in English (up to grade 8), and a CLAD credential - enabling me to support English Learners at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I believe in helping students build foundational skills while nurturing their love of learning and fostering confidence in their abilities.

My tutoring journey began during my undergraduate years, and I have since worked with students aged 5-20 in one-on-one and small-group settings. I specialize in reading, writing, math, and - when appropriate - higher-level content including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and introductory Chemistry. I use diagnostic assessments such as the WRAT to identify learning needs, then design instruction grounded in scaffolded support, spaced practice, and focused feedback. This approach has helped many of my students meet - and often surpass - their academic goals, while developing lasting study habits and critical thinking skills.

I earned a BA in English Literature from UC Berkeley and later an MA in Educational Leadership from Chapman University. With seven years of classroom teaching experience (grades K-6) and certification from CORE Learning in evidence-based literacy and math instruction, I bring both theory and practice to tutoring. In reading, I teach phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, academic vocabulary, and writing. In math, I emphasize numeracy, conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, problem solving, and alignment with Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

If you are looking for a tutor who combines credentials, classroom experience, and individualized instruction that adapts to your learning style, I would be glad to work with you - whether you need help mastering foundational skills, strengthening academic confidence, or preparing for more advanced academic challenges.

Accent Reduction

Accent Reduction

I am a native English speaker with experience as a teacher in working with students who are learning English. I provide explicit instruction in English consonant and vowel production, including high-impact sound contrasts that affect intelligibility.. Instruction includes clear articulatory guidance for tongue placement, lip shape, airflow, and voicing so learners can reliably produce challenging sounds. My work emphasizes suprasegmental features of spoken English—word stress, sentence stress, rhythm, and intonation—to improve listener comprehension.
CBEST

CBEST

I have a CA multi-subject teaching credential, and I have passed the CBEST. I prepare students for the CBEST by building targeted skills in reading comprehension, mathematics, and written expression aligned to the exam’s format and question types. Instruction focuses on efficient test-taking strategies, including time management, question analysis, and eliminating distractors, alongside explicit review of high-frequency content. Students receive guided practice with feedback, writing support for the constructed-response section, and individualized study plans based on diagnostic assessment.
Common Core

Common Core

I have a multiple-subject teaching credential, and I have taught using common core. I teach Common Core–aligned reading and mathematics by focusing on the standards’ emphasis on depth of understanding, evidence-based reasoning, and problem solving. Instruction targets key instructional shifts, including close reading of complex texts, mathematical reasoning, and application of skills across contexts. Lessons are standards-driven, scaffolded, and data-informed, with ongoing formative assessment to support mastery and academic growth.

I have a BA in English literature from UC Berkeley. I teach linguistics by helping students understand how language works at multiple levels, including phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Instruction emphasizes analyzing real language data, identifying patterns, and applying linguistic concepts to spoken and written English. I support students in developing precise academic language and analytical skills needed for linguistics coursework, exams, and research-based assignments.
