I have a Master of Science in Computer Science from Pace University, where I graduated magna cum laude, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Information Technology. My academic background has given me experience in programming, algorithms and data structures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, databases, web development, and software engineering. I have worked extensively with languages including Python, Java, C++, C#, and JavaScript. My doctoral research interests include artificial intelligence and algorithm optimization, which have further strengthened my understanding of both theoretical and applied computer science.
I also have previous tutoring experience working with children in mathematics. Through this experience, I learned how important it is to adjust an explanation to the individual student rather than simply repeating the same approach. When a student struggles with a concept, I break the problem into smaller pieces, identify where the confusion begins, and work through examples with them before having them solve similar problems independently. I bring this same approach to computer science tutoring. Rather than simply providing working code, I want students to understand why their solution works, how to identify problems when it does not, and how to develop a solution themselves.
My goal is to help students develop problem-solving skills that remain useful beyond a single assignment or exam. For programming and algorithms, I emphasize understanding the problem first, developing a straightforward solution, and then considering how that solution can be improved. I am comfortable working with students who are learning programming for the first time as well as college students studying more advanced computer science topics, and I adapt the pace and depth of my explanations to each student's current level of understanding.
