Daniel P. has been teaching chemistry for 16 years as a lecturer, lab class leader and tutor. He has taught at Ohio State, Capital University and Columbus State among others. Classes have been mostly organic and general chemistry, but has also taught biochemistry, spectroscopy, pharmacology and non major classes. Student evaluations are always high and tutor students are happy. At TPR, organic chemistry for the MCAT has been the focus.
His degrees are from the University of Nevada (Ph.D. Chemistry), CSU East Bay (MS Chemistry) and UC San Diego (BA Biochemistry). He has 7 peer reviewed publications, numerous conference presentations and has awards for teaching and research: Dreyfus Fellowship, Outstanding Teaching Assistant, Outstanding Graduate Student, Who’s Who, INBRE and SSP grants.

When my son needed to spend a little longer on his homework he gladly showed up 30 minutes early to help him. My son loves studying with him because he makes sure he understands the material. He does not hate his Chemistry class as much now. Still doesn't love it but, he will survive the rest of the year.
Daniel is very good with students who do not have a strong ability in Chemistry. He gets down to the brass tacks and helps the student who is struggling to have a better understanding of the material. His style is very appreciated.
This is our first time using a tutor for our daughter who is a high school student taking AP Chemistry. She has had only one tutoring session with Daniel. After her first tutoring session, we did ask our daughter if she felt comfortable with Daniel and how well he explained things. She felt overall that things went well and felt comfortable with him. This is a new experience for our daughter. She felt that for the first tutoring session it went quite well, and that Daniel was able to explain the assignment clearly. If she had any difficulty working out a formula that wasn't clear to her, then he would help her to understand how to go about working out the formula in question.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught biochemistry classes at the college level and know the material well. It is generally half introductory material and the processes: replication, transcription and translation and half metabolic pathways: glycolysis, Kreb's and oxidative phosphorylation being emphasized.
I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring chemistry. I have taught chemistry for 16 years.
Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon. It is mostly about syntheses and mechanisms. My Ph.D. is in organic chemistry. I have taught and tutored organic chemistry many times at the college level and know the material quite well.
