I'm Bethany! I come from a large family of teachers, educators, and school employees in both the public and private school sectors. I graduated with honors with a Bachelor's in History and a minor in Music Performance and History. After getting a teaching credential I taught for several years at the middle and high school levels. I taught US History, World History, and Geography. During my time in the classroom I worked with students to help them not only learn the specific material for that class but develop study habits that would translate to all of their classes. I also created programs to work individually with students at risk of failing to develop their study skills, catch up on homework, and raise their grades. I transitioned into the private sector where I worked with students and college students developing study habits and teaching Bible, history, and tutoring other subjects when they needed help I could give.
I am a detailed and creative thinker. I love helping students become life-long learners and develop a passion for learning no matter what the subject material. I start by assessing how a student learns and what methods will help the student retain information long-term. I love seeing students develop skills that will help them not only maintain good habits, but be able to become successful independent learners!
I have always loved history! I have a passion for it that comes from having fun teachers and professors who made it come alive. History is so much more than dry facts and a list of dates! After having taught History in and out of a formal classroom I have learned multiple ways to help it come alive for students and help them make connections that lead to retention.
