Welcome! I have 20 years of experience as a secondary level (6-12) English educator. My journey as a secondary level English educator began in 2005 when I earned a CLEAR English teaching credential from California State University Long Beach, which includes a CLAD (California Language Acquisition Development) component. Over the course of my career, I’ve taught high school students designated as Advanced/Gifted, English learners, remedial readers and writers, and special needs. Early in my teaching career, I tutored students in English Language Arts (ELA) at Sylvan Learning Center for approximately 2 years, and high school age students as an independent venture.

During my 20 year term in the teaching profession, I’ve received a wealth of ELA training and resources. I’ve been a member of the Inland Area Writing Project since 2018, and have received training in ELA instruction from The California Writing Project and AVID. My practice and training has been fruitful because I was nominated as teacher of the year in 2024 by my school site, and received an award from my school district for percentage growth on the CAASPP exam in ELA during the same year. My greatest accomplishments to date are two published forewords, and co-authoring a poetry book, which was released in 2023. Despite the aforementioned awards, nothing has been more rewarding than seeing former students entering Ivy League and UC system universities.

For approximately 11 years, I've provided my editing services to colleagues who were pursuing post graduate degrees at Loyola Marymount University, University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles, and Stanford University. I also had the pleasure of providing editing and feedback to a colleague who published several research publications in the field of technology within the last two years. Whether or not you choose to seek my tutoring services, always remember you can accomplish most things with commitment and effort.
