My name is Mary S. I have tutored for 20+ years and have been exclusively online since 2020. I have spent many hours as a writing center tutor at the college level and as a private tutor for all ages, achieving immense success with students in grades 3-12. I can teach general concepts to help improve overall student performance or work on specific assignments such as projects, essays, and test prep.

I graduated magna cum laude from CSU San Marcos with a BA in literature and writing. I have completed graduate coursework, including a K-12 teaching course and a college writing instruction course, both of which were helpful in developing my teaching style. I have also completed counseling and technical writing courses that inform my practice. I have a substitute teaching credential and am certified to work in the California school system.

My personal college experience as a literature and writing major afforded me valuable study, editing, and proofreading skills that have proven to be very beneficial to my tutoring practice. I have an extensive knowledge of classic literature and creative writing that enables me to be especially effective as a tutor in language arts for all grade levels.

I find my work rewarding and enjoy working with students of all ages. I employ many effective curriculums because I believe that it is important to tailor lessons to meet the needs of each individual; I will make changes whenever necessary to reach a student.

I provide instant book sessions in order to help students who require immediate, specific help. However, I provide a free initial 30 minute consultation and free assessment to those who are interested in regular, recurring tutoring sessions. If you are interested in a consultation, please contact me directly and do not book an instant book spot.

Please contact me for all of your tutoring needs. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach all of your academic goals.
