I can help you improve your grades or advance your career. I have a great deal of experience working with ESL learners, including speakers of Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, and other languages. For the time being, I work exclusively online but will also consider in-person meetings in the Berkeley/Oakland area once the public health environment has improved.

I can teach you how to write effective essays, academic papers, business presentations, website copy, marketing material, correspondence, emails, business plans, executive summaries, resumes, and many other types of writing. I have helped my students prepare successfully for the TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, the verbal portions of the GMAT and MCAT, and a number of other exams. I'm also available for quick editing and proofreading assignments.

If you're a law or paralegal student, I can teach substantive legal topics, legal writing and research skills, and exam prep.

We went through technical role questions and Janet broke each question down for me to really understand what I was doing wrong. She was patient with me through the whole process. Really helped me understand the question.

Janet is a Wonderful Exam Prep Asset

Janet is incredible to work with. She is always there with smart suggestions, and a compassionate energy. She hears what you need and chimes in when necessary. It’s always so refreshing to have somebody, that lets you explain what you need, and what your goals are, then works with what she is provided, to design a good path to follow. I highly recommend Janet. She has been a huge help and a nice presence on my journey.

Honest, efficient, and knowledgeable law tutor.

I worked with Janet for 2 sessions to get myself ready for 1L. She was really helpful and encouraging, and made time to look at my practice briefs/exam questions before we met. I'm amazed by how much we managed to cover. Janet was also very honest - we had initially thought we needed 4 sessions, but she felt I was ready after only 2 sessions. I was really impressed by that and will come back to her whenever I have questions in law school.

excellent tutor

Janet is truly a talented teacher. She helped elucidate the question types that I struggled with the most. She’s a very patient tutor and compassionate. I was having difficulty with the LG and LR sections, but she taught me how to approach the questions to cut down on the time I was spending answering the questions. Through her guidance and skillful strategies, she helped me become more confident in choosing the correct answers for all sections. I highly recommend her as a tutor! I will be studying with her again.
