Hi! My name is Phillip and I’m a proud graduate of Haverford College, majoring in English Literature. While there, I wrote personal essays that got me awarded the Taiwan ETA Fulbright scholarship. Also, I know what it takes to get 99th percentile scores on the SAT Reading/Writing and Math sections, and I can help you improve your SAT scores. Finally, I have my Level 3 TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) (120hrs) certificate.

Overall, I have been working with students (K-12) for almost six years. I have tutored high school Latin one on one. For three years, I ran a robotics teaching company whose summer programs were often fully booked with 30 middle schoolers and elementary schoolers.
I believe that no progress is made unless there’s buy-in from the student. I also believe that working at things that are difficult for us and actually seeing improvement can be the most satisfying feeling in the world. I work to only connect what we’re working on to what you actually care about.
The SAT is a system that can be unlocked if you know the right rules and strategies. I can teach you the skills that got me a 1570 (153/154 questions correct) at a fraction of the price that they cost my family. SAT questions follow patterns and for each question type, there are certain strategies to use. We will review each situation and then take practice tests. This is the best strategy for steadily improving your score.
I can help you with writing personal statements, essays, and creative writing. Freshman year of college, I was that weird kid that went around asking people what their personal statement was about, because I believed it said something true about you. (I was a very earnest freshman.) I take that sense of earnestness as a starting point for our work: through an ongoing dialogue, we will discover what you actually care about and make that care communicable through your writing.
