Hi, I’m Deana! I graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Media studies, but took classes across all disciplines, from education to forensics and everything in between. College provided me a safe space to explore my intellectual curiosity, which is something I hope to foster in every student.

I have over three years of teaching and mentoring experience both offline and online. As a librarian and Video Journalism teacher at a Taiwanese international school, I helped middle and high schoolers develop their writing and video production skills in a classroom setting, encouraging them to play to their interests and strengths. After school, I tutored elementary students one-on-one in Math and English. Since many of these students are native Chinese speakers who are learning English as a second language, I have found my own native English-Mandarin bilingualism to be an asset in helping them understand the material.
After completing an immersive web development course, I have also taught basic coding to adults online, both in class and on an individual basis. In my free time, I enjoy being an alumni interviewer for applicants to my alma mater. I had such a positive experience during my interview, and I’d love to pay it forward by helping talented students refine their applications, tell their unique story, and put their best foot forward.
