I’m a physician board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, a former CDC “elite disease detective” in the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) fellowship, and I currently work in a leadership role as a public health officer.

I tutor students and professionals who want to improve their public health practice, whether that’s writing manuscripts that get published, preparing presentations that persuade scientific or lay audiences, or developing clear and actionable public health guidance. I help you identify meaningful gaps in the literature, brainstorm investigation design, describe methods, present results, create data visualizations, and recommend public health actions supported by your findings.

I’ve been first author on manuscripts published in prominent public health journals like Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) and Emerging Infectious Diseases. During my fellowship, I presented at opening session at EIS Conference and won an award for best occupational health presentation. I’ve presented original work at resident lectures, grand rounds, and national public health conferences. I’ve spoken on television and radio about numerous public health topics.

I love teaching and have tutored/mentored in various capacities throughout my career. In college and med school I tutored in Spanish and anatomy, respectively. After college, I taught English as a second language (ESL) in Ecuador for a year. As a clinician, I supervised residents rotating through my clinic. And now as a public health physician, I supervise medical residents and public health fellows.

I’m also available for consultation on medical or public health career advice or review of personal statements.
